By the end of 2014, JAFPP marked fifty years of distinguished service in social and medical fields. It was launched in 1964 in Jerusalem by a group of local volunteers who established the first clinic to provide family planning services. In 1971 it expanded into Irbid, Amman in 1972 and Salt in 1975 followed by branches in Ashrafiyah and Zarqa.
During the eighties, JAFPP branches’ administrations were dismantled and substituted with a central administration located in Amman. In the aftermath of the federal disengagement between Jordan and Palestine in 1989, JAFPP was re-registered in the Ministry of Social Development.
Believing in the importance of JAFPP’s goals and the need to promote its mission in providing distinguished maternal, reproductive and family health-care services and programs, JAFPP,with the support of local and international bodies, is continuously expanding and improving the quality of its services and programs. During the last five decades of relentless efforts, 23 clinics were inaugurated in most governorates across the Kingdom: eleven in Amman, two in Irbid, two in Zarqa and one clinic in each of Al Rusayfah, Madaba, Karak, Mafraq, Aqaba, Jerash, Ajloun and Salt.
Throughout its journey, the JAFPP has undergone many developing that garnered its reputation locally and internationally as an effective organization with a humanitarian mission, which strives to offer distinguished programs and services in the field of reproductive health and family planning, stemming from its belief that obtaining these services is a basic human right.
In brief, JAFPP has a history, a background and a legacy dating 50 years ago during which it achieved tremendous progress, maintained the sustainability of its programs, and retained a unique local and regional positioning among institutions specializing in reproductive health and family planning programs.
